In the media company Tamedia Publications romandes, the editorial department needs to have a constant view on a variety of media channels, such as TV stations, or online portals. With a video wall, the editorial team would receive an easy to use working tool for maintaining the perfect overview.
Littlebit Technology performed the planning, evaluation and successful implementation of the video wall in close collaboration with the graphics specialists at Matrox®.
Steering Comand axxiv
An axxiv SVELT AX7901 is used as the central command unit to control and manage the content displayed on the video wall. The computer is equipped with the specialized graphics controller board Matrox Muraâ„¢ MPX 4.4. The board controls four full HD displays and can process signals from four different sources. The solution is scalable and can be complemented with up to five additional Matrox Mura boards, enabling up to 24 full HD displays.
The various inputs and outputs of the control unit can be managed independently. It can process all signal formats that are relevant to the editorial department, e.g. DVI, RGB/VGA, Component, S-Video and Composite. Thanks to the DVI video outputs, the display of news channels on the video wall is crystal clear.
The individual components of the axxiv control unit are designed for continuous operation, allowing the video wall to play various information channels round the clock .

Content display defined in profiles
Using profiles, the content could be displayed in suitable content units. The arrangement of the displays is freely selectable (e.g. 3x3, 4x4 , 6x2 , etc.). The user can choose the current display layout through a network API.
Intuitive control via iPad®
The free Matrox App MuraControl allows input sources to be switched and managed through an iPad®. The display of a simulated video wall lets the editorial team control the wall intuitively and in real-time.
Matrox® Mura™ MPX
Die Mura™ MPX Serie is designed for the control of high-performance video walls. With up to four inputs and outputs, the single-slot boards are based on the PCI Express x16 Gen.2 technology, and use duplex data transmission at 64 Gbit/s.
This ensures full HD performance on the video wall for multiple copy-protected content sources (HDCP compliant).
